Fraud and scams
Criminals sometimes pose as solicitors to trick people into sending money to the wrong account.
Last updated 18 June 2026
The risk is highest during property transactions, where large sums move close to a deadline. Here is how we protect you and what to do if something looks wrong.
Our bank account details do not change
We give you our account details once, in writing, at the start of your matter. We will never email, text or call to say our details have changed. If you receive any message saying our bank details have changed, it is not from us. Do not act on it.
Check before you send money
Before you transfer any money to us, confirm the account details by phoning us on 020 3886 3332, using that number or one we have given you directly, not a number taken from an email or letter you are unsure about.
Watch for last-minute changes
Most of these scams happen near completion, when a criminal has been reading emails and sends fake account details at the last moment. We will not ask you to send money to a new or different account, and we will not rush you to pay urgently.
If something looks wrong
Stop, and do not send any money. Contact Vipal Matwala on 020 3886 3332 or info@nomalegal.co.uk to check. If you have already sent money to an account you now doubt, telephone your bank straight away, as acting quickly gives the best chance of recovering it. You can also report fraud to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or at actionfraud.police.uk.
If someone contacts you claiming to be us
If you are unsure whether a call, email or letter is genuinely from Noma Legal, contact us using the details on this website. Noma Legal is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA No. 8013473), and you can check our details on the SRA register at sra.org.uk.
